Subject: Ringette Week
Hello association Presidents and Happy Thanksgiving! I'm sure you are all looking forward to the regular schedule getting started.
I'm pleased to write you and tell you about Ringette Nova Scotia's plan for Ringette Week (Nov 3rd through 7) this year and enlist the your help to make it one one of our best ever. Lindsay, Ellen MacIntyre and I have been working hard on pulling it together and to make it a success, and help grow the sport, we need your help.
We have two exciting events planned this year and I have attached information on each, but in summary here they are:
1) Ringette Night - this is scheduled for Tuesday November 4 starting at 6 pm at the Dartmouth Sportsplex. It will consist of a Come Try Ringette Event sponsored by RNS starting at 6, a Tween skills competition starting at
7 and a special exhibition game at 8 between the Provincial Belle Team and the Dartmouth Subways Major Midget Hockey Team! Throughout the night we will have appearances by Moosehead Players and a special award for Herm Wills, the founder of the sport in Nova Scotia. The Tween Skills Competition is an opportunity to showcase the skills of ringette players to the Come Try Ringette participants, their parents and the media. This can be a huge success if we have good participation by the Associations. I have attached a registration form and information on this.
2) Ringette Rocks the Mooseheads - on Thursday Nov 6th the Mooseheads play the Cape Brenton Screaming Eagles and Ringette will be featured throughout the evening. Special ticket pricing is available to ringette players and RNS will be running the 50/50 draw that evening with proceeds going to KidSport. Also, during the second intermission, a ringette demonstration will be put on by the Provincial Petite AA Team.
So mark your calenders and get you volunteers organized!
Nov 4 is "Jersey day" so as an enticement, associations with the most players per capita at ringette night, wearing their jerseys, will win gym ringette equipment (please note only associations with bunny, novice, petite, tween, junior or belle programs qualify, ladies associations do not).
We have a real opportunity here to showcase our sport. We will be issuing press releases and hope to have lots of media presence. The more athletes, parents, coaches and association executive we have there the more excitement it will generate and the better impression we will make. We know some associations have practice times that may conflict with these events and hope you can accomodate those athletes, coachers and parents who wish to attend either event.
The Mooseheads/Screaming Eagles game is always well attended so hurry and book your tickets. Information is contained in the attached.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks
Bruce
